Crazy, Busy, Fun {An eventful weekend}...very photo heavy

I was going to post last night but I was in denial that the weekend was over! We had such an eventful weekend compared to our usual lazy lay around the house do nothing kind of weekends. On Saturday Morning Izaiah and I (along with my best friend Aimee) went to the March for Babies March of Dimes Event and walked with our team Kayleigh Ann ( my little cousin who was born premature at 32 weeks). We had a blast even though it was blazing hot which didnt mix well with 3 miles, but we made it.

After leaving the walk we went to the Jacksonian Festival in Scottsville for just a while but it seems as though all festivals ever have at the booths is a larger than necessary variety of tutus, hairbows, pillowcase dresses, and everything else pink and fluffy you could imagine.  If I had the time I would dedicate it to making boy specific items to sale because you can hardly find many handmade boy items.....Anyways...enough on that. Me and Izaiah were a lil rosey cheeked after spending all that time outside.

Sunday was nothing less than awesome as well, it was beautiful outside, so we spent some time outside playing in the yard .

Also Sunday evening the in-laws Plus the bestie came over, we deep fried some fresh catfish and potatoe wedges, had some cornbread and beans and played a game of "I-buy" (cards). It was a blast.

Today, I was just not willing to accept that the weekend was over, so I played hooky skipped my class and took Izaiah for a happy meal and to play at the park.

So this evening I am mourning the loss of our only large shade tree in our yard as Izaiah was peacefully sleeping we had a rather short storm that snapped our tree into. I've sit outside and relaxed under that tree with izaiah since he was just a little baby and take photos of him underneath it all the time, so I'm pretty upset. We have many memories spending time together under that tree.

Despite all my sadness for our tree being gone...I decided to try a recipe I found on Pinterest for supper tonight lol. Pizza Rolls...I'll say this is my first time dealing with bread dough...wooo that stuff is no joke lol...I have no clue how mine turned out so huge...but we were definitely not expecting it or else we wouldnt have made more than 1 or 2, I had to invite a friend over to come take one off of my hands. Although they were jumbo size they were delicious, I made garlic sauce and marinara to dip them in. If you would like to try your hand at this...here is the link to the original recipe. http://whataboutpie.blogspot.com/2010/10/pepperoni-rolls.html

Feeling Crafty {Car Pillow Tutorial}

Okay so tonight I felt like making something, so i dug around in my fabrics to see what I could scrounge up. As usual I decided to make something for Izaiah.  Since I am in the midst of planning a redo of his baby nursery to a new big boy room themed "ready, set, go", why not go ahead and stark tackling this big project. Just so you can get an idea of what color scheme I have in mind, here are some swatches of coordinating fabrics I will be using throughout his room.

So tonight I decided to make a car shaped throw pillow to go on his bed. Let me mention that this was the first 3 dimensional item i have ever sewn.  It didn't turn out perfect, but there is something about its janky look that adds to its juvenile purpose--so works out perfect for my little boys room. Do I think I will make another one? Hmmm...probably not...and if I do it will be made out of regular fabric and not the stretch minky fabric I used for this one.
So here is the run down...I tried to take a few photos thru the cursing and mad search for the scissor several times (am I the only one that mysteriously loses the scissors 2-3X in each sewing project I take on?)

                                    First I drew out a pattern to go by (don't make fun i'm not an artist)

Then I layed out my back panel fabric (white minky) and traced the car pattern onto the back.

I did this for both the front and back panel and cut them out...as well as cut out the circles for the wheels and the window panels.....and the strip that goes all the way around to connect the front and back of the pillow.

Then I sewed the wheels and the windows and hand sewed on buttons....not pictures sewed a ribbon stripe you will see in completed project.

Now this is where the poo starts to hit the fan.  Put right sides together of your strip and front panel and wrap all the way around the car pinning it together then sew....Way Trickier than it sounds.....Then you will repeat this sewing the back panel to the other side of the strip connecting your front and back panels of the car...don't forget to leave an open spot to stuff...then sew it back up....
The end Result

 Now this was a very hard project to tutorial, just because I am a Lazy Crafter. I'm not big on measuring out or pinning as much as I should. I just start sewing and see what comes out in the end. Anyways If you would like to try and follow another tutorial I found on a car pillow you can follow the link below, and she does a great job of breaking it down!

Newbie Blogger {Introduction}

Hey Guys! This is my first blog post Ever. So I guess i'll start by telling a little bit about myself and that will give you a feel of what you can expect to see on my blog.  First and first most I like to introduce myself as a mommy, because of course my kiddo is my pride and joy! I have a little boy whose name is Zaiah and further known to be called Zay, Zaiah, Zay-Zay, and of course Monkey. He will turn 2 towards the end of June, although I believe we have already hit the title "terrible twos" right on the head.  I married  my highschool sweetheart in the summer of 2008 who i have been seeing going on 8 years. *Shout out to my sweetie Wes* -whom without i wouldn't have my handsome sweet baby boy. I am Still and currently attending WKU and hope to be graduating in the next semester or so majoring in Sociology with a minor in Family Studies. However, I do have another Love in my life named Photography. I started dabbling in photography a year or two before my son was born and then became more serious about it once Izaiah was here.  This month marks the 1 year anniversary that I began offering my photography services outside of family and friends.  Hmmm...lets see what else can I say about myself to make my life sound much more exciting lol...only kidding..it is plenty hectic enough for my liking! I also enjoy being "crafty", i'm not a pro at sewing but I get by and can pretty much do anything I set my mind to.  This will just be a short post as there is only so much I can say about myself.  In further posts I will probably share photos from my photography business, inspiration from other places that i find interesting enough to share, and pretty much anything else I feel worthy of sharing !......
Oh and I've shared some images I took today of my son relaxing outside in our yard
